What is HESLB?
HESLB, short for the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board, is a Tanzanian government agency established to remove financial barriers for determined students. It provides critical financial aid—mainly through loans and occasionally scholarships—that bridges the gap between students' educational ambitions and the economic challenges they face.
At the core of HESLB’s operation is its digital platform, the Online Loan Application and Management System (OLAMS). This system simplifies the entire funding process by enabling prospective borrowers to register online, upload the required documentation, and monitor the status of their applications—from initial submission through to loan disbursement and repayment. In this way, HESLB makes the pursuit of higher education more accessible and transparent for all eligible students.
