Accountant & Assistant Accountant Responsibilities
Successful candidates may be responsible for:
Recording and documenting financial transactions.
Maintaining the General Ledger and reviewing transactions in QuickBooks.
Preparing and analysing financial statements, including cash flow statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
Preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow monitoring reports.
Performing bank, cash, debtors, and creditors reconciliations.
Reviewing supplier invoices and LPOs before payment approval.
Monitoring accounts payable and supplier obligations.
Ensuring accurate payroll postings and accounting entries.
Supporting statutory tax compliance, including PAYE, SDL, NSSF, VAT, service levies, and provisional tax.
Maintaining accurate fixed-asset records.
Assisting with internal, external, and tax audits.
Preparing audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Supporting compliance with IFRS, Tanzania tax laws, and company accounting policies.
Supporting and coordinating Accounts team activities where required.
Performing other accounting and finance duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should have:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 1 year of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in accounting team supervision or leadership will be an advantage.
Knowledge of Tanzania tax compliance and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
Good financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
