About The Foundation For Tomorrow (TFFT)
The Foundation For Tomorrow is an international nonprofit organization working to provide quality education and emotional support to orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania.
TFFT's work includes a Scholarship Program supporting scholars from enrolment through graduation, a Teacher Training Program that strengthens instruction in partner schools, and a Community Learning Centre in Usa River that extends educational support to the wider community.
About the Psychosocial & Health Coordinator Position
The Psychosocial & Health Coordinator will lead the wellbeing component of TFFT's Scholarship Program.
The successful candidate will coordinate psychosocial support, case management, safeguarding, family engagement and health services to help ensure that scholars are safe, healthy and able to succeed academically, socially and personally.
The role involves working with children and young people, caregivers, schools, health providers, government authorities and community stakeholders throughout the scholarship journey.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scholar Wellbeing and Psychosocial Support
The Coordinator will:
- Monitor the social, emotional and psychological wellbeing of scholars.
- Conduct regular wellbeing assessments.
- Provide appropriate psychosocial support within professional limits.
- Develop individualized wellbeing plans.
- Refer scholars to specialist services when required.
- Support scholars experiencing wellbeing or psychosocial challenges.
2. Case Management
Responsibilities include:
- Managing scholar cases from intake through resolution.
- Maintaining confidential case documentation.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Developing individualized pathways and mentorship plans.
- Identifying and building on each scholar's strengths and needs.
3. Child Protection and Safeguarding
The successful candidate will:
- Implement TFFT's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Coordinate investigations with government authorities where required.
- Promote awareness of child protection and safeguarding.
- Support safeguarding training for scholars, staff, caregivers and partner schools.
4. Family and Community Engagement
The role will involve:
- Conducting home visits.
- Building positive relationships with caregivers.
- Engaging community stakeholders.
- Organizing family meetings.
- Facilitating caregiver forums.
- Strengthening the support systems surrounding each scholar.
5. Health and Welfare Coordination
The Coordinator will:
- Coordinate health assessments.
- Arrange health referrals.
- Support emergency health interventions where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
- Work with local healthcare providers.
6. School-Based Support
The position requires close collaboration with:
- School leaders.
- Teachers.
- School counsellors.
- Caregivers.
- Other relevant education stakeholders.
The Coordinator will help address wellbeing, behavioural and attendance concerns while strengthening schools' capacity in safeguarding and psychosocial support.
7. Training and Capacity Building
The successful candidate will design and deliver training covering areas such as:
- Child protection.
- Safeguarding.
- Psychosocial support.
- Child and youth wellbeing.
- Appropriate referral procedures.
The role will also involve preparing training materials and other supporting resources.
8. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Duties include:
- Maintaining wellbeing and case-management data.
- Tracking relevant program indicators.
- Preparing regular reports for TFFT Tanzania and TFFT US.
- Maintaining confidential records.
- Supporting documentation of scholar impact stories.
9. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
The Coordinator will work across TFFT teams and represent the organization during relevant stakeholder engagements.
The position may also contribute to organizational priorities including continuous improvement, fundraising and donor reporting.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a:
Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Counselling
- Sociology
- Community Development
- Guidance and Counselling
- A related field
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification in any of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Counselling
- Child protection
- Safeguarding
- Case management
Required Experience
Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following:
- Child protection
- Case management
- Psychosocial support
- Social work
- Youth development programs
Experience working with vulnerable children, families, schools or community-based programs will be relevant to this position.
