About the Senior Accountant Role
PLAY Tanzania is looking for a strong, commercially minded Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day finance function and provide management with accurate financial information, analysis, and practical financial advice.
The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals, financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and Tanzanian statutory requirements. You should also be confident explaining financial information, variances, risks, and business performance to non-finance managers.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant at PLAY Tanzania, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Analysing revenue, costs, margins, cash flow, and overall financial performance.
- Presenting financial reports to management and explaining key variances, risks, and trends.
- Preparing and monitoring annual budgets.
- Preparing and reviewing Budget vs Actual reports.
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Performing bank and other financial reconciliations.
- Processing approved payments while maintaining proper controls.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and supporting documentation.
- Supporting payroll processing in coordination with the HR department.
- Ensuring timely compliance with TRA, NSSF, WCF, and other statutory requirements.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Advising management on financial planning, cost control, risks, and business decisions.
Senior Accountant Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this Senior Accountant vacancy in Tanzania, candidates should have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
- At least 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting systems.
- Good understanding of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements.
- Experience preparing and presenting management accounts and financial reports.
- Strong analytical and financial problem-solving abilities.
